Yep. That's one of the biggest problems with public sector employment; especially for the politicians.
I think term limits is the answer. There should be no advantage to being a politician and they should never be furnished health insurance or retirement.
Public sector employees should be paid a wage comparable to the private sector and their benefits should reflect what is available to the private sector, too.
Another thing: Waste, bureaucracy and excessive regulations should be discouraged with severe penalties for those involved.
